【Main Component】Enrofloxacin
【Properties】This product is a white or light yellow powder.
【Pharmacological Action】Pharmacodynamics Enrofloxacin is a broad - spectrum bactericidal drug specially for veterinary use, belonging to the quinolone class. It has good effects on Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Klebsiella, Pasteurella, Proteus, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus, etc. It has relatively weak effects on Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Streptococcus, and very weak effects on anaerobic bacteria. It has obvious antibacterial effects on sensitive bacteria. The antibacterial mechanism of this product is to inhibit bacterial DNA gyrase, interfere with the replication, transcription, and repair and recombination of bacterial DNA, so that bacteria cannot grow and reproduce normally and die. Pharmacokinetics Most animals can well absorb this product when administered orally. The bioavailability in chickens is 62.2% - 84 % after oral administration. It is widely distributed in the body and can well enter tissues and body fluids (including bones). Except for cerebrospinal fluid, the drug concentration in almost all tissues is higher than that in plasma. The main hepatic metabolism pathway is the removal of the ethyl group on the 7 - piperazine ring to form ciprofloxacin, followed by oxidation and conjugation with glucuronic acid. It is mainly excreted through the kidneys (by renal tubule secretion and glomerular filtration), and 15% - 50% is excreted in the original form in urine. The half - life of this product in chickens after oral administration is 9.1 - 14.2 hours.
【Drug Interactions】(1) Synergistic effects occur when used in combination with aminoglycosides and broad - spectrum penicillins. (2) Heavy metal ions such as Ca2+, Mg2+, Fe3+, and Ab3+ can chelate with this product, affecting absorption. (3) When used in combination with theophylline and caffeine, it can inhibit the metabolism of the latter, causing abnormal increases in the blood concentrations of theophylline and caffeine, and even symptoms of theophylline poisoning.(4) It has an inhibitory effect on hepatic drug - metabolizing enzymes. When used in combination with drugs metabolized in the liver, it can reduce their clearance rate and increase the blood drug concentration. (5) Probenecid can inhibit its renal tubule secretion and excretion, prolonging its half - life.
【Indications and Uses】It is a quinolone antibacterial drug. Used for bacterial diseases and mycoplasma infections in chickens and racing pigeons.
